Tomoko Kayama

Tomoko Kayama was born in Tokyo and began her career in journalism covering NASA’s space programs. In the late 1980s, she developed a passion for watchmaking which led her to write a series of reports on watch manufacturers. Tomoko Kayama is now editor-in-chief of World Wrist Watch, a quarterly magazine published in Tokyo since 1990 by World Photo Press. This publication was one of the first in Japan to target a broad audience of enthusiasts, and looks at all aspects of the profession from its history to the latest technologies, and from new products to the métiers d'art. For Tomoko Kayama, watchmaking is much more than the sum of its parts: it is a living art.
