Latest activities of the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie in the US

A round-up of the FHH's activities after the highly successful TimeCrafters luxury watchmaking fair, in partnership with The New York Times.

The Foundation's presence at TimeCrafters, held May 13th-15th 2011 in the TimesCenter, New York, certainly didn't go unnoticed, with more than 2,500 visitors eager to find out more about prestigious timepieces, and delighted with this first watch fair to open to the New York public.

The Foundation set the scene right from the entrance to the fair, where three craftsmen worked at their benches, giving visitors a unique opportunity to see for themselves the meticulous work of a master watchmaker, stone-setter and chamferer.

On the lower level of the TimesCenter gallery which opens onto an interior courtyard, visitors were treated to an original exhibition of almost 60 timepieces from Swiss museums and the heritage collections of the Foundation's partner-brands. A contemporary watch by each of the FHH brands completed the exhibition.
This exhibition chronicled the history of mechanical timekeeping from the 13th century to the present. Gregory Gardinetti, the FHH's historian, gave guided tours with explanations of the timepieces on display.

These events by the FHH were the perfect complement to the presence of the 19 exhibiting brands which showed their latest creations on the upper level.

At a press conference, the FHH announced the appointment of its two new US delegates, and its next projects in the United States, including in the very near future training for fine watch retailers.

In early June, the Foundation will take its historic exhibition on the history of the mechanical watch to JCK in Las Vegas, where visitors will also have the chance to take apart and reassemble a mechanical movement at one of the Foundation's initiations to watchmaking.
