A TALK WITH @amoureuxpeintre Multi-disciplinary designer and creative director. We asked for his thoughts on watchmaking—here’s what he shared:

1__Ritual

I organize my life around rituals and all that goes with them. Winding the watch is a ritual. Changing time zones on a watch is a ritual. The watch is the ritual.

2__Dress code

A watch is the cornerstone of putting together an image. Based on the watch, a large number of images are invented. There is a poem in which a man puts on all his clothes, countries, seas, oceans, but he forgot to put on his watch and then we realize that without time we are nobody. I like this thought in my way of thinking.

3__Dimension

The watch is a unique reminder to me that time is a unit of measurement. It is identical to other units of measurement, it makes me think about quantum physics.

4__Motivation

Every time you watch the hand of the watch, you realize the transience of time and you begin to appreciate life and it motivates you to create what’s best for you, to accomplish the actions you’ve been putting off.

5__ Memory

I love to observe how a watch acquire aging, the strap wear and tear, the handprints on it. It’s all memory.
