A TALK WITH @davidletterb, a part time cowboy, full time watch enthusiast and collector.
David’s sophisticated taste and watchmaking acumen go beyond the timepiece. His unique viewpoint mirrors a thoughtful and diverse intellect. He skillfully interweaves elements from different realms, including fashion, cars, architecture, marketing, and furniture, crafting a visually stunning and cohesive aesthetic universe of his own.

With over half a decade immersed in the Patrimony & Heritage spheres of globally recognized watch brands, overseeing vintage collections and restorations, I’ve transitioned to an independent consultant role. The current industry landscape motivates me to explore unconventional and daring watch designs, leveraging my expertise to push boundaries and create positive industry expansion.

Fascinated by designs incorporating material experimentation and risk-taking in various fields, including watches, clothing, furniture, jewelry, sunglasses, and cars. I believe brands can thrive by embracing novelty through a blend of public demand and innovative R&D, rather than reissuing archived pieces with fleeting marketing narratives.

Rejecting the influence of social media on consumer choices in the watch market, I draw inspiration from creators like Patcharavipa, Maxime Plescia-Büchi’s Hublot Spirit of Big Bang Sang Bleu, and Alabaster Industries. These innovators bring personal touches to their designs, standing apart from the mainstream trends.

Drawing parallels between horology, fashion, and wearable collectibles, I see them as languages expressing individuality. Whether subtly worn or boldly displayed, these objects establish a romantic connection between the owner and their unique totem, fostering a sense of guardianship for future generations.

Acknowledging the fortunate influx of diverse individuals entering the watchmaking realm, I value curiosity over conventional passion or expertise. Embracing an open-minded approach, let’s usher in a new era where time and curiosity shape the last human-made goods of our time.
