A TALK WITH @itskindofcomplicated, a luxury vintage watch sourcer. I’m drawn to rare, old things—they connect me to something beyond reach. I started sourcing watches at 17 at my grandfather’s store, where my love for watches began. This passion led me to start a digital marketing business for luxury retailers. Like rhetoric, watchmaking blends art and science, a silent language that influences us daily.
1. Words
Before watches, my first love was words. Books and watches are timeless, telling stories that last forever.
2. Identity
Your individuality is your currency—express it. Imitation isn’t flattery; it’s self-theft.
3. Intuition
Intuition is our superpower. It’s what brought me into this industry.
4. Nostalgia
My first watch was a Flic-Flac with pink rhinestones and fairies. Nostalgia drives me—Hello Kitty, Grandma’s house, vintage Cartier are all me.
5. “There are no mistakes in art”
This lesson shaped my approach to the watch world, where there’s now room for fun and art for art’s sake.
