A porous robin's egg blue gemstone that is usually cut as a cabochon. The American variety has streaks of black matrix. It was used as a watch dial in the 1970's and can today be found on certain fashion watches. Turquoise has a hardness of 6 and a specific gravity of 2.60-2.85.
