In 1735, Jehan-Jacques Blancpain detects the potential of a whole new area of activity: watch-making. He founds the Blancpain company and sets up his workshop. Since then the brand has been adorned with exceptional pieces. From then onwards, the pioneering spirit of the founder has been transmitted from generation to generation in the Vallée de Joux. Integrated into the Swatch Group in 1982, Blancpain produces purely mechanical watches.

1735

Jehan-Jacques Blancpain decides to launch his watch-making business and founds the Blancpain brand.

1953

The Fifty-Fathoms, waterproof to a depth of 200m, is worn by Jacques-Yves Cousteau during filming of Le Monde du Silence.

1989

The 1735 model brings together the biggest watch-making complications: minute repeater, tourbillon, perpetual calendar, phases of the moon and Split Second chronograph.

2013

The Tourbillon Carrousel combines the tourbillon and the carrousel, two of the brand's emblematic complications.
