Christiaan Van Der Klaauw starts making watches in his workshop in 1974. Fascinated by the solar system, he specialises in making watches with astronomical complications. The amateur astronomer, Eise Eisinga, is an important source of inspiration for him. His watches win numerous prizes. He is admitted into the French academy of independent watchmakers (AHCI) in 1990.
