Foundation of the IWC manufactory in Schaffhausen by a young American named Florentine Ariosto Jones.

1936

Launch of the Mark IX, first IWC pilot's watch designed to withstand extreme conditions in aeroplane cockpits.

1938

Creation of a wristwatch equipped with a high-precision calibre: the Portugieser.

1985

Birth of the Da Vinci. The main attraction of this chronograph with a perpetual calendar is its four-digit year which is adjusted uniquely via the crown.
