Historiques 222
Vacheron Constantin is presenting a contemporary reissue of the 222 “Jumbo”, a 1970s icon, in a 37mm diameter. Distinguished by a monobloc, flat-based, tonneau-shaped case in yellow gold topped by a fluted bezel and mounted on an integrated bracelet, it displays a robust, functional and sporty personality that retains an air of sophistication. This re-edition in the Historiques collection is true to the original model, with a few adjustments in the interests of comfort and enhanced reliability. The case, which carries a Maltese Cross emblem at 5 o'clock, has an exhibition back to reveal the new-generation in-house Calibre 2455/2 whose oscillating weight has been specially redesigned. Operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, it offers the same meticulous standard of finishing as on the original. The aesthetic cues of the 222 have all been respected, including the gold-toned dial with straight hour markers and baton hands whose luminescence takes on a tilleul green tint at night; a nod to the tritium that was used on the original 222.
