Historiques American 1921 - Collection Excellence Platine

Vacheron Constantin this year celebrates the 100th anniversary of an historic watch, dubbed the American 1921 after the year of its creation and the market for which it was originally made, in very limited numbers. The Roaring Twenties were a time of exuberance and creativity, captured here in a sloping dial display whose diagonal extends into the crown at the top right corner of the cushion-shaped case. This unusual arrangement was perfect for the gentleman driver, who could thus read the time without taking his hands off the wheel. Proposed as a limited edition of 100 pieces in the Excellence Platine collection, this American 1921 is crafted almost entirely in 950 platinum, from the 40mm case to the grained dial. Even the dark blue alligator strap is stitched with platinum thread. For the movement, Vacheron Constantin has chosen the manual-winding, in-house 4400 AS calibre whose wafer-thin profile (2.8mm) slips inside this beautifully elegant watch.
