Métiers d'Art Tribute to great explorers

After Magellan, Zheng He, Christopher Columbus and Marco Polo, celebrated in 2004 and 2008, comes the turn of Bartolomeu Dias, Vasco da Gama and Pedro Alvares Cabral to be celebrated in Vacheron Constantin’s “Métiers d’Art Tribute to great explorers” collection. Among the three editions in this third opus, each limited to ten pieces, the model for Pedro Alvares Cabral traces the maritime route that took the explorer to Brazil in 1500, in miniature painting and Grand Feu enamel. A masterpiece of patience and precision, this lively tableau faithfully represents elements present on the map of the Miller Atlas of 1519. So as to leave maximum room for the enamellers to apply their delicate art, Vacheron Constantin has equipped this 41mm watch in pink gold with the 1120 AT movement. The original time display enables the wearer to travel visually through the dial, following the passage of the satellite wandering hours as they sweep the minutes scale, positioned along a 120-degree arc. Yet another demonstration from Vacheron Constantin of how technical skill can serve creativity.
