Octo Finissimo Ultra

Early in 2022, Bulgari revealed the Octo Finissimo Ultra, a watch showing indications of hours, minutes and seconds. With a height of just 1.80mm, it garnered an eighth “world’s thinnest” record for the brand… broken a few months later by the Richard Mille RM UP-01. Which changes nothing of the fact that this Octo Finissimo Ultra is remarkable confirmation of Bulgari’s technical expertise. Creating the world’s thinnest timepiece implies a complete rethink not only of the mechanical movement’s architecture, but also the design of the case, bracelet, even the deployant buckle. For example, the 170 components are assembled on the case back which becomes the watch’s mainplate, made from tungsten carbide for structural rigidity. Indeed, at such an extreme degree of refinement, many of the components are required to do double duty, such as the case which carries the time display and supports several of the mechanism parts. A QR code etched on the barrel gives the owners of the ten watches in this limited edition access to an exclusive virtual world.
