Octo Finissimo Ultra COSC
Bulgari claims its ninth world's-thinnest record for the Octo Finissimo Ultra COSC. Not only is this the thinnest mechanical watch ever made at 1.7mm "thick", it is also the thinnest ever COSC chronometer. Already, in 2022, the brand made history with the 1.8mm height of the Octo Finissimo Ultra, but resolved to go further still. Working with Concepto, Bulgari succeeded in shaving off that all-important one tenth of a millimetre by reworking the case, using 1/10-micron optical measuring systems. However, the biggest challenge was to optimise the balance wheel to obtain COSC certification. Each of the 170 components in the manual-winding BVL 180 calibre is assembled on the back of the case which doubles as a main plate. It is made from tungsten carbide, a particularly dense material that provides the necessary rigidity. On the reverse side of this 20-piece limited edition, a miniature Datamatrix offers comprehensive information about the watch and invites the wearer to delve further into Bulgari's world.
