Pilot Majetek
Many watches began their career as special issues for the armed forces. The Pilot Majetek is one; it was supplied by Longines, in the late 1930s, to the Czechoslovakian Air Force. Almost 90 years later, this aviator’s watch returns in a cushion-shaped steel case with a screw back, upsized to 43mm versus the 40mm of the original. Pleasingly robust, it sports a textured matte black dial with small seconds at 6 o’clock. The bidirectional fluted rotating bezel is coupled with a fluorescent mobile triangular marker or “starting time indicator”, positioned between the dial and the sapphire crystal. Longines has equipped this new watch with an exclusive in-house movement that is chronometer-rated by the COSC. It features an amagnetic silicon balance spring, 72 hours of power reserve and 100-metre water-resistance. Strap options are brown or green leather and a NATO-type strap in khaki green recycled canvas.
