Sautoir Watch
Launched in 1969, Piaget’s avant-garde 21st Century collection included a bold sautoir pendant watch in gold, inspired by the energy on the runways at the Paris couture shows. Now two new creations revive this sautoir for contemporary wear. By reverse-engineering the original, Piaget was able to reproduce and perfect the painstaking technique used 50 years ago to twist and shape 18k gold thread into a chain. The model shown here presents a horizontal oval case surrounding a Palace Decor dial. The case, edged with diamonds and a border of twisted gold, hangs from a complex chain whose delicate, diamond-set circular links are individually hand-twisted. The tassels, one longer than the other, are a nod to Piaget style in the 1960s and 1970s. They are crafted from the same gold chain and set with diamonds to echo the case.
