Speedmaster Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Limited Edition

On July 21st 1969, mankind's history acquired a new dimension when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walked on the Moon. This historic date is also a milestone for the Speedmaster as it too travelled into space to become part of this momentous moment. Omega celebrates the 50th anniversary of an extraordinary achievement with a new edition of the Moonwatch: a limited edition of 6,969 pieces replete with references to that famous moon landing. The bezel on the 42mm case is in Moonshine gold, a proprietary alloy whose paler yellow colour suggests moonlight, and which is also more resistant to tarnish and fading than conventional yellow gold. This same alloy serves for the markers and hands (except the central chronograph seconds), the Omega logo and for the depiction of Buzz Aldrin climbing down the ladder of the lunar module onto the Moon's surface, in the 9 o'clock subdial. At 11 o'clock, two "1" markers clearly reference the Apollo mission. These tributes continue on the reverse side of the case, which houses the Omega 3861 calibre, with a reproduction of Buzz Aldrin's footprint on the lunar surface.
