Urwerk has always made radical choices, both for the design of its watches and for its out-of-the-box interpretations of the mechanisms that power them. Sometimes, these radical decisions can involve other aspects of the brand, such as its determination to remain independent and limit its growth, even if this means sacrificing a collection. The UR-105 TTH is therefore the final piece in the 105 collection and a 12-piece limited edition. The impressive case or hull is cut from titanium and tantalum, a rare precious metal that demands specialist machining and finishing expertise. A sliding tongue lifts the hull’s protective cover to show off the automatic movement, which is built on a new skeleton carousel that rotates the satellite hours along the linear minutes track. An indication for the 48-hour power reserve combines with digital seconds to complete this ingenious mechanism.
