Creative director of @grimajewellery. Daughter of Andrew Grima, one of the most iconic jewelry designers of the 20th century, known for crafting masterpieces worn by luminaries, including members of the royal family. Since 2007, Francesca has upheld the family legacy, breathing new life into this storied brand.

Explore her key inspirations below:

1__GRACE AND ELEGANCE

Two of my three favourite words—and ones I try to live by. The third is a bit too rude, so I’ll leave it to your imagination.“Elegance” also happens to be a watch from my father’s “About Time” collection for Omega - I think it truly lives up to its name.

2__CONTRADICTION

I love nothing more than contradictory situations that make you pause and do a double take.

This theme brought about a shoot I did with photographer @bennie__curnow: wearing an evening dress and @grimajewellery running up the stairs of a London tube station like a rush hour commuter.

3__DAIDO MORIYAMA

I’m captivated by Moriyama’s photographs of women in tights - the contrast between the smooth skin, the angular patterns of the fishnets, and the natural curves of their bodies creates such a striking visual dynamic. His work is provocative and suggestive, yet it never feels lewd.

Inspired by his style, I worked on a shoot of my own. Photographing these alone, some images were slightly out of focus, but I’d like to think the unpolished quality added a delicate, dreamlike effect to the final result.

4__BRUTALISM

Brutalist architecture intrigues me because it evokes in me a mix of fear and fascination. Its raw and unapologetic nature is incredibly powerful and serves as a strong influence on many of my designs.

4__LIGHT

You could say I’m a bit of a lighting snob. The wrong color light bulbs in a restaurant can ruin the culinary experience for me as that’s all I’ll be thinking about and lights are the first thing I notice when I walk into a room. These double stone rings were inspired by a light I saw at 180 Strand in London.
