Today, meet @timvaux, a british watch photographer and writer.
The foundation of my passion is capturing watches in real-world settings and utilising natural light to accurately portray their presence in our lives. It’s all about creating relatable imagery—moving beyond macros and photo-stacked shots to authentically depict a watch.
I’m obsessed with highlighting elements no one else thinks to focus on. It could be how a watch sits on the wrist or how an applied numeral reacts to light and casts a distinctive shadow. I look for those overlooked nuances that greatly influence the wearing experience.
I started photographing watches in 2019 to complement my writing, and it quickly became my main creative outlet and way of expressing the facets of watches and life that I love. Finding the best light and observing how it interacts with a space or a watch is addictive, even if I only have a rainy English day.
4.Sharing Passion
The magic of this industry lies in the opportunities for continuous discovery and connecting with people worldwide, all because we have a mutual, albeit pretty bizarre, passion. Collaborating with those who are the greatest in their field, supporting each other, and growing together is a true joy.
When it’s not watches, it’s tennis. I’ve played since I was seven, having inherited the sport from my grandad, and while the backhand could always be improved, it’s a sport for life. Tennis is undoubtedly a part of my DNA. On a separate note, we definitely don’t deserve dogs. They’re the best. His name is Chester, and he also likes tennis (primarily the balls).
