Master Hybris Artistica Calibre 945 “Atomium”

Jaeger-LeCoultre presents two new interpretations of the remarkable Calibre 945 minute-repeater movement. In addition to chiming the time, this Master Grande Tradition is an astronomical timepiece which replicates, in real time, the position of the constellations in the night sky above Vallée de Joux. Meanwhile, the Cosmotourbillon makes a complete circuit of the dial in one sidereal day. Shorter than our civil day by very nearly four minutes, the sidereal day is used by astronomers to track the apparent movement of the stars. Additional indications include the month and the zodiacal calendar. Jaeger-LeCoultre is proposing two iterations: the Galaxia in pink gold and the Atomium in white gold. Both display a star map in grisaille enamel on their dial. The Atomium is named for the delicate filigree of silvered metal that forms the outer section of the dome, its shape echoing the lines that connect the stars to form constellations.
