Navitimer B02 Chronograph 41 Cosmonaute Limited Edition
In the 1960s, the Breitling Navitimer was the ultimate pilot’s watch. It also became the first Swiss wristwatch in space, worn by Scott Carpenter who in 1962 orbited Earth three times during the Mercury-Atlas 7 mission. Carpenter had personally requested the watch; a variation on his own pilot’s watch but with a 24-hour dial. For the mission’s sixtieth anniversary, Breitling is releasing a new Navitimer Cosmonaute as a 362-piece limited edition. Features remain true to those of the original, with a circular slide rule, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association “wings” logo and the trio of chronograph subdials. Its capacity to tell 24-hour time is down to Calibre B02, which was specifically designed for this task. Details such as a platinum bezel and open case back are a contemporary touch.
