Récital 26 Brainstorm Chapter Two

For this Brainstorm Chapter Two, Bovet has chosen to make its characteristic "writing slope" case, with its distinctive asymmetric profile, from sapphire crystal. Of the 60 available movements, just 30 will be housed in one of these sapphire cases. One of the first things to note about this movement is the five days of power reserve, supplied by a single barrel. It powers three displays, in addition to subsidiary seconds on the tourbillon at 6 o'clock. At 12 o'clock, a domed dial in blue quartz indicates local time. A second time zone is given on a dome at 3 o'clock, in an unusual way that favours intuitive read-off: the names of the 24 reference cities are printed on the rotating portion of the dome, which makes one revolution in 24 hours. The time in the second time zone is read from the 24-hour graduation at the base of the dome as it aligns with the city name framed by a V-shaped needle; the other city names provide an at-a-glance read-off of world time. A third rotating dome, at 9 o'clock, shows the phase of the moon as a crescent in both the northern and southern hemispheres. This precision moon phase requires adjustment by a single day every 122 years.
