Reverso Tribute Duoface Tourbillon
Crafted in rose gold, the Reverso Tribute Tourbillon carries on from the very first rectangular tourbillon which Jaeger-LeCoultre presented in 1993. Characteristic of the Duoface concept, the two dials have a different aesthetic one from the other: silver sunray for the front dial and for the reverse dial, which displays a second time zone paired with a day/night indication, black sunray on a partly skeletonised and Clous de Paris guilloché gold plate. Functions are driven by the manual-winding Calibre 847, an in-house, extra-thin calibre whose 254 components fit into a height of just 3.9mm. In order to achieve this, Jaeger-LeCoultre’s watchmakers completely rethought the tourbillon mechanism to reduce its thickness. Their solution was to remove the upper bridge and replace the outer tourbillon carriage with a ball-bearing system, with the balance wheel at the centre of the tourbillon. With no outer carriage to secure the balance spring, the Manufacture’s movement engineers invented an S-shaped spring, which it has patented. One end is attached to the centre of the tourbillon mechanism and the other to the balance wheel. Despite the complexity of the movement, the case of the Reverso Tribute Duoface Tourbillon measures just 9.15mm high, enhancing its elegance on the wrist.
