RM 30-01 Automatic Winding with Declutchable Rotor
Richard Mille has completely rethought the skeletonisation of the RM 30-01, resulting in the RMAR2 movement. Visual balance is central to the design, with grade 5 titanium bridges and baseplate that introduce perspective and depth through multiple parallel segments. Movement-wise, the brand’s signature variable-geometry rotor returns, but in a declutchable version. Once the mainspring is fully wound to deliver 55 hours of power reserve, the rotor automatically disconnects from the winding mechanism, kicking in again when power reserve drops to 40 hours. This ensures the movement runs at the optimal torque/power ratio for enhanced chronometric performance. An indicator, at 11 o’clock, shows when the rotor is winding (“on”) or disengaged (“off”), with a power-reserve scale underneath. The complete line-up of indications includes an oversize date plus a function selector for winding, date-correction and hand-setting modes. The RM 30-01 comes as two versions: red gold and titanium or all-titanium, the latter weighing just 96 grams, strap included.
