Themes: Design, Technical
Specificities: Non-classified
Richard Mille has made it a habit to hand over its watches to elite sportsmen and women for testing, meaning polo champion Pablo Mac Donough could expect something special – and special it is. This is the first watch ever to use a laminated glass. The two sapphire crystals are separated by a thin polyvinyl film so that, like a car windshield, under a severe knock the glass might crack but will never shatter. Another specificity of this 53-01 – already put through its paces in the RM 27-01 Rafael Nadal – is the suspended tourbillon calibre inside the TPT Carbon® case for ultimate shock-resistance. Two braided steel cables, an incredible 0.27mm thick, connect the movement plate to a peripheral plate via ten pulleys anchored by four tensioners. This is a limited edition of 30 pieces.
