Its innovative mechanism burst onto the scene in 2009, showing numerical jumping hours and minutes. A decade later, the Zeitwerk Date incorporates a completely new mechanism with an additional date function. The engineers at Lange & Söhne worked around the small amount of dial space left by the numeral discs to come up with an ingenious alternative to a conventional date aperture: a peripheral display on a glass ring, with printed numerals from 1 to 31. A colour segment advances underneath it so that the current date appears in red, instantly returning to its initial position at the end of each month. As a further technical prowess, the date is set separately from the time by means of an independent pusher. Functionality prevails in this special edition celebrating the 10th anniversary of the brand's first mechanical digital watch.
