Royal Oak Minute Repeater Supersonnerie

Audemars Piguet releases a new version of its Royal Oak Minute Repeater Supersonnerie. Crafted in titanium as a limited edition of 20 pieces, it is powered by the triple-patent-protected Calibre 2953 with manual winding. The smoked grey hues of the guilloché dial subtly complement the titanium of the case and bracelet while accentuating the monochrome aesthetic. Introduced in 2016 after eight years of research in collaboration with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), the Supersonnerie striking mechanism equals the volume and resonance usually associated with pocket watches. Such exceptional acoustic performance is inspired by the sonic power of older minute repeater watches and by the harmony of musical instruments. The gongs are fixed not to the mainplate but to a resonating soundboard which transmits more vibrations and therefore amplifies the sound.
