Type 20 Chronograph 2057
For the past 70 years, Breguet’s Type XX chronograph has equipped both civilian and military pilots. Four years in development, this year sees the introduction of a new generation of Type XX/20 powered by a new calibre. The Type XX 2067 is inspired by early civilian versions while the Type 20 2057 looks to the military watch ordered by the French Air Force; 1,100 were delivered between 1955 and 1959. Breguet has revamped the black dial with mint green lume on the numerals, indexes and hands. A 42mm case in steel combines with a fluted, non-engraved, rotating bezel and a pear-shaped crown. As for the flyback chronograph movement, Calibre 7281 (728 for the civilian edition) incorporates all the features of a modern chronograph, with a column wheel and vertical clutch. Operating at 5 Hz, it also benefits from the latest technological advances, including silicon for the balance spring, escape wheel and pallet lever horns. A high-energy-density mainspring achieves a 60-hour power reserve. Movement finishing includes hand-bevelling and polishing, executed to a particularly high standard.
